The Parliamentary Committee on Economy approved today the government proposal to dismiss Arben Malaj from the Board of Bank of Albania.
During the hearing, Malaj repeated that the process for his dismissal is political, and it had nothing to do with any alleged violation of ethics. He warned he will take the case to the European Court of Human Rights.
Following discussions, 12 MPs voted in favor of dismissing Malaj and 5 voted against.
The Parliament will have the final saying when MPs will vote before the end of the year whether to dismiss Malaj or not.
The government suspended Malaj less than two weeks ago after several comments concerning the earthquake aftermath. It asked the parliament to dismiss the board member over alleged political comments in violation with the law.
