Parliament To Discuss Ad-Hoc Vetting Committee on April 11

Speaker of Parliament Ilir Meta has announced an extraordinary session of Parliament on Tuesday April 11 to discuss the creation of the parliamentary ad-hoc committee to establish the final list of qualifying candidates for the three vetting institutions: the Independent Qualification Commission (KPK), the Appeals College (KA), and the Public Commissioners.

The parliamentary session will be held within the time limit set by the constitution of three days after the receipt of the final three lists with qualifying candidates, non-qualifying candidates, and recommendations of the International Monitoring Operation (ONM) from the National Ombudsman.

According to the Constitutional Annex, C(8) the ad-hoc committee should consist of three members of the majority and three of the opposition. The committee will produce a final, consolidated list of qualifying candidates, based on the three lists forwarded by the National Ombudsman.

As the opposition has been boycotting the Parliament for more than a month, it is unclear whether the committee indeed will be installed on Tuesday.
