The Head of the Infectious Diseases Service at QSUT Najada Çomo stated that if the numbers of those infected with COVID-19 increase significantly, the country may have a partial lockdown.
Invited to the show Opinion on Monday, Çomo said:
“If the figures continue to be alarming, we risk a partial closure of Albania. There may be a closure of areas that are more vulnerable.”
Najada Çomo also spoke about the decision to conduct teaching online in universities. According to her, the decision was made after the number of people infected with COVID-19 increased and universities are seen as an institution at risk of spreading the virus.
Asked by journalist Blendi Fevziu why the same decision was not made for bars, Çomo said:
“Learning is mandatory while going to the bar is a choice. When you choose to go to a place that does not wear a mask you run the risk of becoming infected. While in universities you go under duress and you run the risk of becoming infected and infecting others.”
Several private schools in Tirana have already switched to online learning and others are preparing to do so.
