Police have arrested Mexhit Picari, an ex-prison officer, for murdering his son-in-law and wounding this latter’s lawyer in Tirana earlier today.
Picari accosted the victim, Kudret Saliaj, and Adriatik Cama in a coffee shop near the Court of Tirana. After the shooting, he fled the scene but was arrested soon after.
According to the latest media reports, Saliaj and Picari’s daughter have started divorce proceedings, which are thought to be the reason why Saliaj was targeted by his father-in-law.
Adriatik Cama is currently at the hospital and in stable conditions. Cama, who was the late Saliaj’s personal attorney, currently represents former police officer, Navaldo Hajdara, who is accused of the murder of 25-year-old Klodian Rasha in December 2020.
