Police Use Tear Gas to Disperse Protesters following Minister’s Resignation

The Albanian police used tear gas and pepper spray to disperse hundreds of people protesting the killing of 25-year-old Klodian Rasha on Tuesday.

On their second day of protest, protesters vandalized the windows of public institutions and set fire to some trash bins, despite the resignation of the minister right after their protest started.

The government had deployed large police forces, armored vehicles and water cannons on the second day of protest.

They arrested several protesters but the exact number was not made immediately public.

Klodian Rasha was shot after he reportedly refused to obey the police orders to stop when he was returning home after midnight, during the coronavirus curfew. The police officer was arrested.
