Prime Minister Edi Rama announced from Kruja that work will begin on the construction of 75 houses and 7 four-storey buildings.
On Thursday, together with the Minister of Reconstruction Arben Ahmetaj, he inspected the works in Kruja, Bubq and Thumana.
Minister of Reconstruction Ahmetaj stated:
“Donors today have completed the first school in Kruja. 45 families will live in seven mansions to be built.”
In October 2020, reconstruction had not yet begun in Kruja. For a year the residents affected by the earthquake lived in tents. They rose in protest to demand the start of housing reconstruction.
In a July decision , the government allocated EUR 2 million for reconstruction in Kruja.
In December, the Municipality of Kruja announced that work on reconstruction had begun in Thumana, 158 individual houses and 17 buildings.
In Fushë Krujë, 15 buildings will be built and 1200 inhabitants will be accommodated, stated Rama and Ahmetaj.
Ahmetaj said that the reconstruction process will be completed in May 2022. According to him, out of 11,000 homeless families currently ‘only’ 865 live in tents.
A few days ago, Rama inspected the works in Thumana together with Behgjet Pacolli. Pacolli stated that several apartment complexes will be built, adding that there will be 80 apartments of 100 square meters.
