The reopening date for public transport has been pushed back for the second time, this time indefinitely.
Public transport was supposed to begin operations again on June 22, after being pushed back once from June 15. However public transport companies refuse to do so under the conditions of social distancing mandated by the Ministry of Health.
Companies claim that if a 1.5 meter distance is maintained between passengers, then buses would only be able to operate at 25% of their capacities. This would bankrupt public transport companies.
Public transport associations demand a reduction of VAT to 0% for this year, the removal of excise duties on oil and fuel, and state subsidies due to empty seats because of the pandemic.
