The Albanian government has reached an agreement in principle with the US company Pfizer Inc. to get a first batch of its vaccine in January.
Prime Minister Edi Rama announced the news on Wednesday, saying that the two sides were able to agree on the text of the agreement after some intensive work.
He said he had to use contacts “from all sides of the world”, despite his previous statement, after meeting the Pfizer CEO in New York, that he had successfully “opened a communication channel” with the head of the company.
In his tweet today, Rama repeated accusations against the European Union, and slammed critics who complained about the lack of vaccines, asking them to take their words back.
“The differentiation that the EU made to the Balkans is morally, politically, and logically unacceptable,” he tweeted.
Rama’s post suggests that the agreement with Pfizer has not been signed yet. No information is given about the number of dozes expected or the exact time of arrival.
