Tomorrow, Prime Minister Edi Rama is expected to announce his decision to support Erion Veliaj for a second term in his position as the Mayor of Tirana.
For the last two days, Mother Teresa Square and parts of the main boulevard in Tirana have been closed due to ongoing works to set up the stage for tomorrow’s event.
Both PM Rama and Mayor Veliaj used their social media to invite residents to attend the event. Rama wrote that “electoral engines of all municipalities are starting tomorrow”.
The main stage is set up in Mother Theresa squares and LED screens have been installed along half of the boulevard.
A rough expert estimation shows a minimal cost of EUR 400 thousand for tomorrow’s event. The PS has not made public the expenses and their source.
ProSound shpk is the company organizing the event. In an earlier article, we called them the “Ministry of Sound” given that it appears to be the company of choice that is contracted by the government for events such as these.
Tens of thousands of PS supporters are expected to attend tomorrow’s meeting.
Local elections will be held in June but Albania’s opposition has indicated that it won’t participate unless PM Rama resigns from his post, a transitional government is installed, and free and fair general elections take place.
