The police have reported the discovery of a burnt-out car in Kavaja, near Durres.
Inside the car was the body of a 45-year-old woman. Her husband was later found hanging from a tree.
The police said they still do not know the exact motives of the incident but are investigating. Journalists at the scene reported that the man, believed to be the husband of the female victim, set fire to the car with his wife inside, and then committed suicide.
This is the second murder-suicide in a month in Albania.
On 18 March, a man killed his pregnant wife by stabbing her some 31 times. The incident took place in front of their two young children. His body was later found dead in a field after he committed suicide.
The incident sparked protests in Tirana against the ongoing issue of violence against women and state failure to prevent it.
