The Serbian opposition Freedom and Justice Party leader Dragan Đilas has unveiled a video that, according to him, reveals the scheme of how Serbs from the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska are registered as new “inhabitants” of Belgrade, so they can vote for the ruling party of President Aleksandar Vučić in the April elections.
The video, made on 3 February explains how the issue of citizenship and place of residence for people who are not from Belgrade is organised, and how the entire process is coordinated. The recording includes a conversation with one of the coordinators who, in his own words, is in charge of doing that job and taking payment slips, N1 TV reported late on Sunday.
The television recalled that two days earlier Đilas had released the first video based on which he claimed the ruling party was “importing” votes from Republika Srpska. According to that footage, the only condition for obtaining Serbian citizenship for people who applied at police stations across Serbia at the end of last month and the beginning of this month is that they vote for the Serbian Progressive Party, led by President Aleksandar Vučić.
“People are brought by vans to police stations across Serbia, most of them in Belgrade,” said the Freedom and Justice Party. When asked where they were from, the citizens replied that they were from “across the border, from Sarajevo, Bijeljina, from Bosnia.”
Every group has a list and its own coordinator added the Freedom and Justice Party.
After the release of the previous video, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić reacted by saying that it was a disgrace and proof of what Đilas thought about people from Republika Srpska. The Freedom and Justice Party leader replied that he had not insulted the citizens of Republika Srpska would continue to highlight what the ruling party was doing.
