Representatives of the Socialist Party have erected a tent on the square in front of the city hall in order to host an electoral meeting of Prime Minister Edi Rama with young voters of the city.
However, the installation of the tent have caused clashes between the municipal police and the state police because the Municipality of Shkodra had organized several activities in the context of International Family Day in the square, which had been announced beforehand.
After the clash Mayor Voltana Ademi responded, calling the installation of the tent by the Socialist Party a provocation. She declared that the PS had received a permit to hold a meeting near the prefecture, and not the city hall.
The intervention of the State Police is illegal. It was done in order to block our activity for the International Family Day, The municipality will also have activities between 17:00 and 20:00. We call up Prime Minister Rama not to provoke. Rama doesn’t have a permit for the square in front of the city hall, but for near the prefecture.
Prime Minister will visit Shkodra later this afternoon.
