Sota & Tahiri Cases Prosecutor To Face Vetting Commission Today

Besides Supreme Court judge Edmond Islamaj, Serious Crimes prosecutor Dritan Prençi will also face the Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) today.

Prençi is part of a priority vetting list, as he is a candidate for a seat in the High Prosecutorial Council (KLP).

Initially Dritan Prençi served as a judicial police officer in the Tropoja district, and afterwards became a prosecutor in the same district. Before his position at the Tirana Serious Crimes Prosecution Office, he worked at the Kukës and Kurbin Prosecution Offices.

Currently, Prençi is investigating the case of former Minister of Interior Affairs Tahiri, the Orest Sota case, and the case of Nezar Seiti, the financier of the Habilaj gang.

Prençi is also currently under a disciplinary investigation by the Durrës Prosecution Office, regarding the illegal extradition of Nezar Seiti to Italy.

According to a analysis of the prosecutor’s wealth declarations conducted by BIRN, Prençi’s family income is comprised of his and his wife’s wages.

In 2003, when Prençi filed his first wealth declarations, he declared that he owned nothing. By the end of 2016, his wealth reached a 4.59 million lekë value and consists of a 78 square meters apartment and a vehicle.
