Strong Aftershock Leads to Cancellation of Search and Rescue Operations in Albania

Search and rescue operations have been temporarily suspended after another strong aftershock tremor, with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale. The shock happened at 15:45 with the epicenter in the Adriatic Sea, 42 km northwest of Tirana.

The search sites are among rubble and next to damaged buildings which are unstable and could collapse or move abruptly and tremors pose a clear threat to search teams.

This latest tremor was felt on the entire center west part of the country causing panic especially in Durres and Tirana.
