The survival of Kosovo’s new government, led by Avdullah Hoti, depends on the Belgrade-backed Srpska Lista (Serbian List) party, says Serbian Chief of the so-called Office for Kosovo-Metohija, Marko Duric.
Duric told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) that lifting reciprocity measures will be the “first big test” for the Hoti government.
He also stressed how important it is for Serbs in Kosovo to unite around the Srpska Lista party, and noted the better negotiating position the party found for itself within the Hoti government.
He also refuted allegations that Serbia would halt its derecognition campaign against Kosovo, calling the rumor a possible “foreign” attempt at election interference.
Kosovo’s new Hoti government is expected to enter negotiations with Serbia with the aim of reaching a historic agreement between the two countries. The new government’s dependence on the Belgrade-backed Srpska Lista for its very survival has led some to believe that Kosovo’s position during the dialogue will be heavily influenced by Serbian interests.
