Swiss President of Parliament Visits One of the Most War Torn Villages in Kosovo

President of the Swiss Parliament (National Council) Isabelle Moret accompanied by MP Mauro Tuena and the Swiss Ambassador to Prishtina, Thomas Kolly paid tribute at the war victims Memorial Complex in Kosovo village, Krushe e Madhe.

“Ms Moret was impressed by the strength and courage of the family members of those still unaccounted for and acknowledged the need for justice,” a post by the Swiss Embassy on Facebook says.

241 people were killed in March 1999 in Krushe e Madhe by Serbian forces, leaving the village with 140 widows and 502 orphans. 64 people are still missing.

In a situation when husbands were killed or missing, the widowed women founded their agricultural cooperative “Grate e Krushes” [Krushe’s Women]. Their products are sold also in Germany, Switzerland and other countries.

“Switzerland is proud of the hard work of the women of Krusha and impressed by the quality of their products which are exported to Switzerland and beyond,” Swiss Embassy wrote.
