Tirana Appeals Judge Genti Shala Passes Vetting

The Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) has confirmed Tirana Appeals judge Genti Shala for duty on August 4.

The ruling was taken by the vetting body made up of Firdes Shuli, Brunilda Bekteshi and Olsi Komici.

The Commission asked the High Justice Inspectorate (ILD) to inspect a 2017 Tirana Appeals Court case Shala had ruled on.

During the administrative investigation, KPK found some inconsistencies with the judge’s wealth declarations through the years but, after hearing Shala’s explanations, the Commission decided to confirm him for duty.

Genti Shala began serving as judge at the Shkodra Court in 1999. From 2006 to 2008 he was part of the Central Electoral Committee (KQZ). In 2010, Shala was appointed to the Tirana Appeals Court.
