A 35-year-old man from Tirana was arrested near Pogradec while transporting 15 illegal immigrants in the direction of the capital.
The man was driving a van when the police tried to stop him. He refused to stop and was pursued before being caught and arrested. He was found with 15 immigrants in the van who he had promised passage to an EU country in return for money.
He is now facing charges of assistance in illegal border crossing and disobeying a police officer.
The police have apprehended a growing number of individuals over the last two months, and at least 100 immigrants.
