Tirana has been ranked as the fourth-best city in Europe for foodies, according to a survey conducted by Uswitch that looked at capitals in terms of value for money, tastiness, and diversity.
Out of a possible 100 points, the Albanian capital scored 78.6 and was noted particularly for its value for money. Surprisingly, for a nation of meat lovers, Tirana ranked highly for the availability of vegetarian options, beating most of its regional neighbors.
It wasn’t one of the cheapest capitals on the list either. Skopje took the top spot, followed by Belgrade and Bratislava. Tirana ranked in 10th place, below Riga and Vienna.
But when it comes to brunch, Albania came out on top with the highest score around. It beat Athens, and Zagreb to the top spot, and even the Mediterranean island of Malta.
According to the survey, Tirana has 353 restaurants to choose from, and the average meal costs around EUR 20. Stockholm was considered the most expensive city in Europe with an average price of around EUR 70 for a meal.
Tirana made the top ten for every category in the survey, reinforcing its place as a prime destination for food lovers. The information used to create the scores was gathered from Tripadvisor, based on visitors reviews and stars awarded.
