The Turkish government will restore the historic Xhamia e Plumbit (Lead Mosque) in Shkoder.
The news was announced on Wednesday by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama in Ankara.
The Xhamia e Plumbit is a first-class cultural monument built in 1773.
It has suffered damages throughout the years, and is often flooded during rainy seasons.
Ministers of Culture of both countries signed an agreement today, Erdogan said, stipulating that Turkey will provide the funds and carry out the restoration process for one of Shkoder’s main symbols.
The president stressed that Turkey has carried out over 500 restoration projects in Albania, amounting to 20 million euros.
