Two Ballsh Hunger Strikers Hospitalised on Day 21
As the women oil workers in Ballsh begin the 21st day of hunger strike, two of them have been taken to hospital in Fier.

Reports state that the condition of those protesting and continuing the strike is serious and deteriorating rapidly. Those that have been taken to the hospital said they will return to the protest once they are discharged.

In addition to this, the women state they have been threatened and pressured via SMS to end the strike.

“Do not put pressure on us to leave the strike- we will make self-sacrifices to go down in history,” one told the media.

The women are adamant that they will continue striking until the government resolves the issue. They added that the silence of the state leads them to believe that they have no intention of helping them. Protestors have demanded that the government pay their wages in arrears and allow them to resume work.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has repeatedly said he will not engage with them while they continue the strike. He said the government does not respond to pressure and will only discuss the issues with them once they end the strke.
