UNDP Provides Activities for over 300 Roma and Non-Roma Children in Albania

The UNDP in Albania, in collaboration with the Swiss Government and three municipalities, has organised a programme of cultural and entertainment activities for over 300 Roma and non-Roma children.

Work included educational sessions on steps to be taken to protect and guard against COVID-19.

The initiative is a part of the “Leave no one Behind” programme and its integrated social services approach.

The programme is a four year joint UN programme that aims to empower vulnerable individuals in Albania. By providing equal access to public services and opportunities it also aims to provide participants with a voice in public decision-making that affects their lives.

At a municipal level, social service provision is provided for those with disabilities, Roma, and Egyptian communities that are in need of social protection and care. It hopes to enable them to better access the system as well as contribute to social inclusions efforts. In addition to this, the project supports municipalities and local service providers to deliver more effective services to members of the community.
