US Ends Ban on Refugees from 11 “High-Risk” Countries

The Trump administration ended the ban on refugees from 11 “high-risk” countries, but they will face new security measures.

The Trump’s administration put a ban on 10 “high-risk” countries and North Korea as a measure to prevent terrorist acts and illegal emigration.

The ban was approved in October 2017.

According to BBC, the Secretary of Homeland Security Ms. Nielsen said:

These additional security measures will make it harder for bad actors to exploit our refugee program, and they will ensure we take a more risk-based approach to protecting the homeland.

The nations included in the ban, although not been officially named, are Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Mali, North Korea, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.
