US State Department Recognizes Albanian Judge As One of 12 ‘Anticorruption Champions’ in the World

The US State Department has included Judge Ardian Dvorani among 12 worldwide “anticorruption champions” for his work with the justice reform in Albania.

Dvorani headed the Justice Appointments Council (KED), a key institution in the ongoing justice reform in Albania, from 2019 to 2020.

The US State Department praised him for developing “mechanisms to reduce political and criminal influence in the justice system”, helping the country to opening EU accession talks, developing the “vision and legal provisions” for the new justice institutions, and for “insights” leading to a constitutionally protected special anticorruption prosecution (SPAK).

Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted to the news by praising the US for its support of the reform, and Dvorani for his work and resistance against “evil”, while slamming the judge’s critics among politicians and the media.
