Vetting Finds Irregularities with Prosecutor Trenova’s Wealth Declarations

The Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) has found inconsistencies in the wealth declarations of Tirana Appeals Prosecution Office prosecutor, Gentian Trenova.

At the conclusion of the hearing, KPK relator, Brunilda Bekteshi stated:

The High Inspectorate of the Declaration and Audit of Assets and Conflict of Interest (ILDKPKI) has found that Trenova has filed a false declaration of wealth. Trenova lacks legal sources for his wealth. The investigation has found that the reassessed owns an apartment, located on street “Ferit Xhajko,” whose ownership he has transferred to his parents-in-law.

Trenova also has gifts from his relatives and loans given to him by his mother and sister. Gentian Trenova has filed a false wealth declarations, with discrepancies valued at €12,000.

Regarding the gifts, no legal documentation or proof exists.

Additionally, regarding the integrity of his figure, though the National Security Agency (DSIK) cleared him, the KPK has found one of Trenova’s cases, whose investigations were never concluded, though the defendant stood accused of drug trafficking.

The ruling on whether Trenova will be reconfirmed will be announced in a few days.

Gentian Trenova is part of a priority vetting list, as he was selected, via an election by lot, to be member of the Justice Appointments Council (KED).

Trenova is the second KED member to undergo vetting. The first one, Altina Xhoxhaj, did not pass the vetting.
