The White House has postponed for two days the meeting between leaders of Kosovo and Serbia scheduled for September 2, Voice of America in Albanian reported on Friday.
VoA did not give the possible reasons, however Kosovo-based Gazeta Express had reported the possible postponement earlier today, adding that it was due to President Trump’s participation in it.
Gazeta Express has had exclusive interviews with President Trump envoy Richard Grenell before, however Trump’s presence in the White House meeting of September 4 remains unconfirmed.
The September 2 meeting would be hosted by Grenell and National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien.
The meeting was planned to focus on economic issues.
Kosovo leaders have repeatedly raised the need to discuss the country’s recognition by Serbia, which the latter has categorically denied.
This is the second time the White House meeting is postponed, following that of June 27 which was cancelled after the publication of a war crime indictment against Kosovo’s president.
The stalled dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia then resumed on July 16 under the leadership of the European Union.
