Who Are the COVID-19 Cases: Some Data on Cornavirus Spread in Albania

The first coronavirus case in Albania was identified on March 10th. Twelve days later the number of infected people has reached 76.

Exit News provides some statistics on the extend of coronavirus in the country, as of March 21st. All data is from the Ministry of Health.

778 people have been tested.

76 persons of them or about 9.7 per cent resulted with COVID-19.

45 persons or 59 per cent of all the infected are male; 31 persons or 41 percent are female.

37 people or 49 percent of the infected are being treated to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Tirana.

4 patients, or 5 percent of the total, are in intensive care.

2 people have died or 2.6% of all those diagnosed with COVID-19.

— 2 victims were suffering from other diseases: a 73-year-old woman from Durres suffered from cardiac problems, a 66-year-old male from Lushnja suffered from kidney dysfunction.

2 persons or 2.6 percent of all the infected have been fully recovered; both were treated in hospital.

 

7 is the number of cities with infected people, with Tirana counting for 72 per cent of all cases: Tirana: 55 people; Durres: 5 people, including one dead; Fier: 8 people; Lushnja: 2 people, including one dead; Elbasan: 2 people; Mat: 2 people; Kavajë: 2 people.

— All infected people traveled from Italy to Albania, or were infected by them.

— The first identified case, a 26-year-old who traveled to Albania from Florence (Italy), is believed to have infected at least 9 other people including his father.

—  The 66-year-old from Lushnja, who lost his life, is believed to have infected 12 other people, including 3 doctors, a radiographer and 3 hospital nurses.
