The Independent Qualification Commission suspended the vetting process for the Tirana Appellate Prosecutor, Nezir Gjoka, after the latter submitted his resignation to the High Prosecution Council.
The decision was made by a panel composed of Suela Zhegu, Valbona Sanxhaktari and Genta Tafa Bungo.
Prosecutor Gjoka resigned on June 2 for “health reasons”. The High Prosecution Council approved his resignation on June 12th.
As per the Constitution, magistrates can resign leading to the termination of the vetting process. Under this provision, the resigning entity loses the right to be appointed into a position in the justice system for 15 years.
