Colmar Court Releases Haradinaj

The Court of Colmar, France, has this morning released former Prime Minister of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj, rejecting the extradition request of Serbia.

Haradinaj had been arrested on January 4 at the airport of Basel-Mulhouse, based on a Serbian international arrest warrant from 2004, in which he is accused for war crimes during the 1998–99 Kosovo Liberation War.

Haradinaj called the verdict “a victory for all Albanians.'”

The procedure has come to an end, the extradition request has been denied, so from this moment onward I am free to return. Four months have been lost, valuable time. The Albanians have won this confrontation.

Previously, Haradinaj had been declared innocent by the International Court of Justice in The Hague from war crimes against the Serbian population.
