Number of Coronavirus Cases in Kosovo Jumps to 61

Kosovo’s Institute of Public Health has announced a drastic rise in the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus.

The total as of last night, stands at 61 with 26 new cases being diagnosed yesterday. The Institute made the announcement via Facebook after conducting 100 tests on people who have been in close contact with confirmed cases.

The post stated:

“Out of the 26 confirmed cases, all are established contacts of positive cases (family and close contacts), established through active epidemiological research.

14 of the cases are from the Malisheva Municipality, 11 from Gjian, and 1 from Gjakova.

On Sunday, Kosovo had its first death from the virus. The authorities are calling on citizens to stay home and to respect a social distance of 2 metres.
