According to a Facebook post by Prime Minister Edi Rama, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will help with the establishment of an Albanian national airline company. Previously, President Erdoğan also “personally” assisted with the acquisition of new uniforms for the Albanian police.
Prime Minister Rama visited the headquarters of Turkish Airlines to discuss the possibility of restarting a national airline company:
[Discussions] about the progress of the ambitious project to build an Albanian Airline, which now have entered the phase of concretizations, with the logistical and technical support of the Turkish company [Turkish Airlines] and under the direct care of President Erdoğan.
The idea to start up a new national airline company with the support of the Turkist President was first floated in May 2017. Even though the project is now in its “concretization” phase no details are yet known about the costs of the project or the sources of its financing. It is also unclear whether the company would be state-owned or designed as a public–private partnership.
