According to Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) manager Shkëlqim Bozgo, the project is planning to invest €400 million into Albania in 2017. The same amount is expected to be invested in 2018. The total investments of TAP in the Albanian part of the pipeline are €1.5 billion.
News agency Azeranews reports that two-thirds of the TAP have been completed. Of the 765 km from Greece to Albania, 500 km have been constructed. The total length of TAP is 878 km (Greece: 550 km; Albania 215 km; Adriatic Sea 105 kml Italy: 8 km).
Work on the Adriatic sea coast will commence in 2018, and the tests with the pipeline, which has a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters, will be started in 2019.
TAP is part of the southern gas corridor and one of the most important energy projects of the EU. The pipeline will connect to the TANAP pipeline from Azerbaijan to Turkey, and transport the gas through Greece and Albania across the Adriatic to Italy, which will lead to a greater independence from Russian gas exports.
TAP is owned by BP (20%), the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (20%), Snam (20%), Fluxys (19%), Enagas (16%), and Axpo (5%).
