Albania received an additional 100,000 doses of CoronaVac, also known as Sinovac, vaccines against COVID-19 over this past weekend.
50,000 doses of CoronaVac vaccines arrived on Saturday and another 50,000 doses on Sunday, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on social media.
So far, Albania has received 1,067,950 does of COVID-19 vaccines from different producers.
The Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu announced earlier that the vaccination of the population is expected to be completed within spring next year. People over 50, chronically ill people, and some people across various public service sectors are currently eligible for the vaccine.
Since January 16, when the vaccination process started, 876,000 vaccines have been administered, with only 63,000 citizens having received both doses of the vaccine.
Vaccination in Albania is in high demand and is continuing at a rapid pace given that the opening of the country’s tourist season is underway.
