Albania has fully vaccinated only 100,000 people, and the remaining 400,000 of those vaccinated have received only one of the two necessary shots.
It was announced on Tuesday in the Albanian parliament by Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu.
The Albanian government rolled out vaccination on January 7, 2021. It has administered four brands of the COVID-19 vaccine, mostly Sinovac but also a limited number of the Pfizer, Astrazeneca, and Sputnik V vaccines.
Albania’s medical staff received the Pfizer vaccine, while teachers received AstraZeneca. It remains unclear to who are/were administered the rest of the Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sputnik V doses, as no calendar of vaccination roll out has been made public. The vast majority of those vaccinated have received the Chinese Coroavac vaccine by Sinovac.
