Albania EU Progress Report Scheduled for 6 October

The 2020 Progress Report for Albania which will evaluate the progress Albania has made towards the 15 conditions set by the EU, will be published on October 6th. According to the European Western Balkans, the European Commission will discuss the enlargement package, as well as the individual reports of the EU candidate countries, including Albania.

This meeting was included in the agenda of the College of Commissioners, from September 9 to October 28, published last week.

Planning is only indicative because the President of the EC can at any time decide to change the agenda of the meetings or add other meetings.

In May 2020, the European Commission postponed the publication of the EU enlargement package and progress reports from candidate countries (including Albania) to October 2020. The postponement of reports was due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the progress report – Albania should have made concrete progress in the 15 conditions set by the European Parliament in the resolution for the opening of negotiations – the date for holding the intergovernmental conference will be set, which marks the actual start of talks with the EU.
