Police in Korce have made more arrests for the transport of illegal immigrants through Albania.
As a part of the operation codenamed “Perimiter”, a. citizen who had previously been declared wanted was apprehended. He had allegedly collaborated with two others to transport four immigrants.
He was arrested through a collaboration between the Korca police, Border Police, and the Kolonje police. The crime took place on the 23rd of September and they two accomplices were caught neat the village of Ecmenkik between Korca and Bilisht. They were transporting four immigrants in a Volkswagen.
Albanian police have made dozens of arrests this year of people transporting immigrants through the country. Large sums of money change hands in return for the promise of transit to a EU country.
