Over 3000 People Flock to Albania on New Year’s Eve

Some 3000 people have entered Albania today so far according to reports from the authorities.

2129 entered the country via the Qafe Thana border crossing point, and 498 from Kapshtica. The influx is due to the end-of-year celebrations, widely considered one of the most important in the Albanian calendar.

Last week the Government announced new measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes a curfew from 20.30 until 06:00 each day until January 4.

The Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu called on the citizens to celebrate in the family and to avoid gatherings.

To avoid rallies and violations of other rules, state police announced new measures on Christmas Eve.
