15,000 Albanians who do seasonal labor in Greece have filed applications to enter the neighboring country and resume their work.
Reportedly, the Greek government has provided an online portal wherein all those interested in seasonal labor can register and be then selected by Greek employers. In the past 13 days, 15,000 Albanians have registered.
Those who will be selected will be allowed to cross the border into Greece, despite borders being otherwise closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On April 17, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the government had discussed allowing seasonal workers to travel to Greece with the Greek government.
All selected workers will pass through the Kakavija border entry point. They will be tested beforehand and will go through sanitizing tunnels.
