155,463 COVID-19 Vaccines Given in Albania, 23,000 Pfizer Doses on the Way

The Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu announced that as of yesterday, a total of 155,463 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Albania.

She said on Facebook that the “Albania Smiles” campaign will not stop until the last citizen is vaccinated.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has promised to vaccinate 500,000 people by June.

The vaccination process in the country started on January 7, 2021, with the vaccination of doctors and the population over 80 years old. At the end of March, the mass vaccination of the population over the age of 70 began.

Four different types of vaccines are being administered in the country, the Chinese Sinovac, the Russian Sputnik V, the British AstraZeneca, and the American Pfizer.

23,000 doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine will arrive in the country in the first weeks of April. The news was given by Prime Minister Edi Rama in a Facebook post. He wrote that it would help them to have a successful tourist season.
