20km Long Queues at Albanian-Greek Borders

The queue of people wishing to cross the Albanian border into Greece is currently almost 20km long and stretches as far as Gjirokaster.

From yesterday, the queue at the Kakavija crossing point has grown continually in length. The border is only open during the day and the delay is caused by crossing procedures on the Greek side relating to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Journalists on site said that the Albanian side has processed people quickly, the health authorities on the Greek side are working at a slower pace. They also said that tensions had flared a few times between citizens and citizens and police officers.
