921 new cases of COVID-19 and one death were recorded in Albania in the past 24 hours, the highest number of infections more than five months.
According to the Albanian Ministry of Health, there currently 8,311 active patients in the country, 96 of which are receiving hospital care.
The Albanian Ministry of Health made an appeal to citizens to get vaccinated. Vaccines are free for everyone over the age of 18 and will continue to be during September as well.
Any resident or citizen can get a jab at any vaccination center in the country. They are open from 8am-8pm, seven days a week. Citizens should present an ID card and foreign residents should have a residence permit, passport, and Albanian telephone number.
1,415,907 vaccines have been administered so far in the country, with 608,539 citizens having received all the required doses.
Despite the increase in COVID-19 cases in Albania, yesterday the Committee of Technical Experts decided not to make any changes to health and safety measures.
Albania remains one of the few countries that has absolutely no restrictions or precautions for foreign visitors. There is no quarantine period and there is no requirement to present a PCR test, antibody test, proof of having recovered from COVID-19 or proof of vaccination.
