Kosovars have expressed their gratitude to the German Ambassador Christian Heldt on social media platforms following his announcement about his departure.
Heldt announced the end of his term in a video message on Thursday.
He said he was sorry for being unable to see all friends personally, and promised to return to do it as soon as the situation with the pandemic makes it possible. Heldt added that the pandemic has also prevented the embassy from implementing several spring and summer projects drafted earlier.
The ambassador is leaving Pristina on Friday, July 24, after 3 years of service.
“It is a hard cut under these Corona circumstances, so let me just say it is not “farewell”, but definitely “auf Wiedersehen”. Faleminderit, hvala, Danke!” Heldt told Kosovars of all ethnic backgrounds.
The ambassador’s wife, Alexandra von Schumann-Heldt, shared the thoughts and feelings of her husband.
Hundreds of messages expressing gratitude poured on the embassy’s social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter.
Ambassador Heldt became Germany’s Ambassador to Kosovo in 2017.
