159 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Albania in the last 24 hours. In addition to that, four people have lost their lives.
The Ministry of Health announced that 844 tests were performed, 159 of which were positive.
Dr Eugene Tomini from the Institute of Public Health urged people to respect hygiene protocols and to wear masks in closed environments such as hospitals, health centres, shops, supermarkets, hairdressers, taxis, workplaces, and offices. She added that those with the virus need to self-isolate and if they don’t their actions will be considered as endangering the life and health of others.
185 people are currently hospitalised in the two COVID-19 hospitals. 15 are in intensive care and six are intubated.
Those that lost their lives include a 64-year-old from Korca and three citizens from Tirana aged 71-years-old, 81-years-old, and 89-years-old. The government did not state whether they were suffering from additional health issues.
New cases were found in the following locations: Tirana (68), Durres (14), Elbasan (13), Shkodra (11), Berat (9), Kruja (6), Gjirokaster (6), Pogradec (5), Korca (3), two new cases each in Kurbin, Kukes, Has, Kavaja, Kameez, Diber, Bulqize, Gramsh and Maliq, and one case each in Devoll, Lezhe, Librazhd, Peqin, Kucova, and Vora.
In terms of active cases, they are as follows: Tirana (2501), Durres (567), Shkoder (372), Lezhe (297), Elbasan (287), Korce (245), Fier (222), Vlore (189), Kukes (142), Berat (116), Diber (73), Gjirokaster (72).
52 people have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours bringing the total of recoveries to 6940.
