Catholic Archbishop of Tirana Transported to Italy for COVID-19 Treatment

George Frendo, the Archbishop of Tirana has been transported to Italy to undergo treatment for COVID-19.

The news of his infection with the virus was given by the Episcopal Conference of Albania on Wednesday. It was reported he was hospitalised in COVID-19 Hospital 2 and was experiencing difficulty breathing.

He was sent last night to Bari, Italy where he will undergo treatment in an Italian hospital.

Earlier this week, the head of Albania’s Orthodox Church Archbishop Anastasios was sent to Greece for treatment for “mild symptoms” of COVID-19.
