Kosovo’s Acting President Vjosa Osmani and the Head of the European Office in Prishtina, Tomas Szunyog held a virtual meeting to discus the latest political developments in relations between Kosovo and the EU.
Osmani stressed that the implementation of deals agreed in Brussels between Kosovo and Serbia requires coordination and unification of positions of the entire political spectrum in Kosovo.
“In order for the agreement expected to be reached in Brussels to be implemented and considered acceptable in our country, I think that we must work actively towards the unification of stances and demands of the entire political spectrum in the country,” Osmani said in a statement on Monday.
The final agreement must be in the interest of Kosovo citizens, she added, and respect the country’s Constitution, territorial integrity and indivisibility of the state, according to Osmani.
“No one has the mandate to renegotiate our Constitution, which already includes many concessions,” she said, adding that “the EU should require constitutional changes from Serbia, and not from Kosovo.”
Miroslav Lajcak, the EU envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, sparked strong reactions in Prishtina in October, when he seemed to suggest possible changes in the country’s constitution to accommodate for requirements of a final deal with Serbia.
Osmani and Szunyog also discussed on an agreement between Kosovo and the EU for ensuring macroeconomic stability and dealing with economic consequences caused by the pandemic.
