Only 13 percent of people in Kosovo trust in their government, while the figure is only 16 percent for parliament. The government is “corrupt” or “very corrupt” for 72 per cent of the country’s population, according to an annual study by the Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS).
The tenth edition of the Kosovo Security Barometer (KSB), published on Monday, measures public perceptions in 2020 on the trust towards institutions and security issues. It is supported by the National Endowment for Democracy, a US government agency.
Respondents to the survey have higher trust in security institutions compared to central and justice institutions. The Kosovo Security Force is the most trusted institution with 81 percent of support, while secret services, customs and prisons are the least trusted.
Security institutions are nevertheless perceived as less corrupt compared to justice and government institutions.
Over 40 percent of citizens find courts and prosecution offices corrupt or very corrupt.
