The government is considering not re-testing positive COVID-19 tests that are done in private clinics.
Until now, any swabs that tested positive in private clinics were then re-tested in the laboratory of the Institute of Public Health to verify the result.
But epidemiologist Artan Simaku stated on Tuesday that experts are discussing stopping the retest of private results.
“Non-public laboratories are talking not to retest anymore, but only to declare. This is a decision that will be made in the coming days. “
Simaku said that since the beginning of the pandemic in the country, IPH has significantly increased its capacity to test:
“In terms of capacity, they have increased. So at the beginning of the pandemic, 250 tests were performed in 24 hours, while now they reach 2500 in total in public, non-public laboratories and IPH. “
