The Independent Qualification Commission fired the Lezha prosecutor, Bardhok Lleshi, on Friday.
The decision was given by the trial panel composed of Olsi Komici, Valbona Sanxhaktari and Xhensila Pine.
The commission found that prosecutor Lleshi had hidden and failed to declare a property. They noted it was financially impossible for him to have purchased three pieces of land. Lleshi said he bought one from his savings after working as an immigrant in Greece, and the other two with money sent by his brother who worked in the US and Canada.
KPC argued that he could not prove the declared income from work in emigration during the period 1991-1997 nor the transfer of the claimed values from his brother.
The Commission also raised suspicions of concealment of assets, as he had failed to declare them before taking office in 2005.
Bardhok Lleshi graduated from the School of Magistrates in 2005 and was appointed as a prosecutor in the Serious Crimes Prosecution. In 2009, Lleshi was transferred to the Lezha Prosecutor’s Office where he continued to exercise that role until his dismissal today.
