Serbia removed the doses of vaccines it smuggled into north Kosovo, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has stated.
“We removed [the vaccines] in order for them not to be destroyed. If they told us that they want vaccines for Albanians, we would say okay. But they wanted to destroy them,” Vucic said on Tuesday, referring to Kosovo authorities’ investigation into the matter.
He added that Serbia will find a way to vaccinate Serbs in northern municipalities of Kosovo.
In December, Vucic announced that Serbia started anti COVID- 19 vaccination of Serbs in northern Kosovo.
Three days later the chief Prosecutor of Mitrovica, Shyqyri Syla said there was no official information into how and how many vaccines might have entered the country.
The chief prosecutor added that they suspect at least two criminal offences to have been committed: providing unauthorized medical assistance and smuggling of medical products.
