The Albanian branch of the largest party in Kosovo, Vetevendosje has presented its first two candidates for the April 25 elections in Albania.
Bojken Abazi, the head of the movement in Albania, will run in Tirana, and Iliaz Shehu, lecturer and activist, will run in Lezhe.
Vetevendosje announced their decision through a press release on Thursday.
The Albanian branch is not a political party officially, hence the MP candidates supported by them are expected to run as independent ones.
The movement has encouraged independent candidates to run in the next elections, promising their conditional support for them. Each potential candidate needs 3,000 signatures to be validated by the Central Election Commission.
It’s not clear whether Tirane and Lezhe will be the only regions with Vetevendosje candidates.
Kosovo’s Vetevendosje is the largest party in parliament.
